Jess Kim

Founder and Executive Director

Jessica Kim, or "Jess" (she/they), is from Los Angeles (California), though she has lived in Texas, San Francisco, Seoul (South Korea), and Singapore. She identifies as visually impaired and founded I-CREATE YOUTH in an effort to unite disabled students through stories and language.

As the Founder and Executive Director of I-CREATE YOUTH, she has worked with disabled creatives around the world and have initiated programs such as the Fellowship Program and Summer Research Scholars Program for youth to learn about disability representation. She also oversees research projects on disability justice.

Jess is the author of L(EYE)GHT, a poetry chapbook that explores the intersections between her disability and Korean-American identity. She is also National Youth Poet Laureate runner-up, the 2022 West Regional Youth Poet Laureate, and the 2021-22 Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate. She uses her words to shed light on the stories that are otherwise shrouded in darkness.
